So after much hunting around for the best pizza in Johannesburg I’ve finally happened on the right place to fulfill this desire; the best pizza in Johannesburg is now available at Sugo Rosso in Parktown North. It reminds me of the good old days of sitting at the ultimate dining hot spot in Durban Spiga d’ Oro which always leaves me with a huge smile on my face upon entrance and exit.

Hit up Sugo in Parktown North; order the Pizza Parma R59 and get it with extra chicken (R9) like I did. At Sugo the tomato topping is rich, sweet and creamy and they don’t skimp on the ingredients so you get your money’s worth. Furthermore, the pizza base is thin, a has not once in three visits in three days been overcooked! Whats more, and here’s the real money-winner, I tasted the parma shavings! Often you could almost be fooled into thinking the chef simply shaved off a little of his shiny nike trainer’s souls and slapped it on your plate; not at Sugo!

Sugo’s menu is pretty expansive; covering all the basics more than adequately, I’m not really at liberty to say how amazing the salads were as I’m a strict meatarian and daren’t interrupt my strict eating regime, out of respect for those delicious bovine.

Lastly try the Toni Glass collection of tea which is on offer; I drink the pomegranate oolong (I’m not much of a tea drinker but its light enough not to disrupt my enjoyment of the pizza and it hydrates me whilst not being as dull as drinking water).
