Trends Interrogated.

They may come and go but fundamentally, I suspect trends are here to stay. The world changes as we blink and in those changes we define and are defined. At least that’s what I gather from the experts who eek out a living predicting these mirrors of society. Take Elle Magazine’s own Dion Chang as a case in point. According to him, the current fashion – which most South African women boldly ignore – is volume; enveloping fa [...]

Show Me the Money Honey

In the interests of promoting individual empowerment I would like to encourage our readers to enter the Sanlam I-Trade competition. Before I go on, let me just say that this is not a promotion for Sanlam, it’s something that I’ve been told about and that I genuinely enjoy. Is everyone ok? City Central is deathly quiet - Is everyone ok?

Hitler prayed upon them, those mentally ill fit to converse about a particular matter without throwing a fist. He suggested that if he could convince one of these inept individuals to be the first to throw a stone in a crowd, he could convince the whole damned lot to do so too. Mob mentality is a funny old thing until it becomes a fearsome reality planted beneath your workplace...

I work in Jozi Central, on the corner of Market and Simmonds, a few roads up from Jeppe Street. I could n [...]

Thank You France for Beautiful Croissants

Today’s decadent morsel of choice is a longstanding favourite. It’s the closest I’ve yet come to Paris or the Louvre and is none other than the chocolate croissant. Lightly toasted on the outside, moist and rich on the inside…it’s a beautiful start to any morning.

As to our winner, we have quite a coup as our winning restaurant takes both first and second place. Located in the newly renovated Benmore Shopping Centre [...]
